2. FAQ
Common questions — aligned with the About screen in the WifiSnap app (English; same topics as the in-app FAQ).
Why does the app need camera access?
The camera is used only to scan Wi‑Fi QR codes and photograph Wi‑Fi labels. You can deny access, but those features will not work.
Why is location permission requested?
On Android, location may be required to scan or list nearby Wi‑Fi networks and compare them with credentials you captured. The app uses this for connection hints, not to track where you go. On iOS, location (when in use) may be requested so the system can share the current Wi‑Fi network name to compare with what you captured and to show on-screen connection hints—the app does not use it to track your movements.
Why is the current Wi‑Fi name missing or “unknown”?
The current network name may be hidden if location permission is off, you are not on Wi‑Fi, or the system does not expose the SSID. Grant permission, connect to the right network, or enter the name manually after capture.
The SSID or password looks wrong—how can I fix it?
Glare, blur, or small text can confuse recognition. Use Retake for a sharper shot, or edit SSID and password on the result screen.
I tapped connect but nothing happened—what should I do?
Phones control Wi‑Fi through the system. If automatic connection fails, copy the password and connect manually in Wi‑Fi settings, or follow the on‑screen tips.
Where is my Wi‑Fi data stored?
Credentials you work with stay on your device unless you explicitly share them. Photo analysis may use network services depending on your build; see the store listing or privacy policy for details.
3. What to include
To help us assist you faster, please include when relevant:
- App: WifiSnap (iOS or Android) and app version (Settings or About, if available)
- Device: phone model and OS version (e.g. iOS 18.x)
- What happened: what you were trying to do, what you expected, and what went wrong
- Privacy: do not send photos of Wi‑Fi passwords or credentials unless we explicitly ask; describe the issue in text when possible
4. What we can help with
- Bug reports and technical issues (camera, scanning, connection, speed test, etc.)
- General questions about how the app is intended to work
- Privacy-related questions — see our Privacy Policy for how data is handled, or ask us by email.
5. Limitations
The app helps you read Wi‑Fi information from images and your device, but it cannot change how public hotspots, routers, or your phone's software work. We cannot provide legal advice or guarantee a third-party network will be available or secure.
